7.1-magnitude quake hits Peru-Brazil border: USGS

A powerful earthquake of 7.1 magnitude struck along Peru's border with Brazil in early hours of Friday, the US Geological Survey said.

It said the quake hit at a depth of 609 kilometers (380 miles), on Peru's eastern frontier with Brazil. 

There are no reports of damage or casualties so far. However, people on social media have said that tremors were felt across the country.

A tsunami warning has also not been issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center yet.
