WION Wings: 108 Years of Indian Aviation - Part 2

Not many people know that the first official airmail flight took place in India over a century ago. On February 18, 1911, French pilot Henri Pequet carried 6,000 cards and letters on his Humber biplane, from a polo field in Allahabad to Naini. So the Indian aviation sector started in British India in 1911. In the last 108 years, it has obviously come a very long way. Recently, India's Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that the sector is witnessing phenomenal growth, and the country could be getting 2,000 planes soon. As India celebrates its 73rd Independence Day, Wion Wings will trace the journey of Indian aviation. We will also understand the challenges facing the sector, and speak to experts to get an insight into what the future holds for aviation.
