Millions of Hindus in India take royal bath as ‘Kumbh Mela’ begins

Millions of pilgrims, led by naked, ash-smeared ascetics, some of whom live in caves, plunged themselves into the cold waters of Ganges river during the first 'Shahi Snan', or Royal Bath in India's northern Prayagraj city as "Kumbh Mela", a heady mix of spirituality, politics and tourism began on Tuesday.
