India, African nations begin joint field training exercise

Indian Army began a 10-day joint field training exercise with 16 African countries in outskirts of western Pune city on Monday. The General Officer Commanding, Pune Headquarters of Indian Army, Major General Sanjeev Sharma said the exercise was aimed at acquainting the contingents with each other's operational procedures on Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) and Peace Keeping Operations (PKO) under UN (United Nations) mandate.
