Endangered vaquita making a comeback in Mexico's Baja

Six new vaquitas have been spotted in Mexico's Gulf of California, giving hope to environmentalists that the endangered species is making a comeback. The vaquita is the world's smallest porpoise and the only place that it exists is in the upper Gulf of California region. The biggest threat to the mammal is nets used illegally in waters. According to the WWF (World Wildlife Fund), the vaquita population has declined by over 90 per cent in just 20 years. The World is One News, WION examines global issues with in-depth analysis.
