Bolivia's Aymara women train to fight back against domestic violence

In the high-altitude cities of La Paz and El Alto, indigenous "cholita" women have long faced discrimination and abuse. As part of a female empowerment drive by the Warmi Power project, these women are learning self-defence to protect themselves against domestic violence attacks, most often by partners or other family members. UN Women data shows that eight out of 10 Bolivian women suffer some type of violence during their lifetime.
