Anti- Citizenship Protests: Indian university campuses turn battlegrounds

Violent protests against the newly enforced citizenship law continued to shake the North-East states and spread to West Bengal, Delhi and parts of southern India, with police resorting to shells of lathi and tear gas to disperse demonstrators. Aligarh Muslim University has postponed examinations and announced a complete shutdown till January 5. The Jamia Millia Islamia University of Delhi has also canceled exams.
