The West Indies were 214 for two at stumps on day three of the first Test against New Zealand in Wellington, still 172 runs in arrears.

Kraigg Brathwaite was not out 79 with Shai Hope on 21.

New Zealand declared their first innings at 520 for nine with Tom Blundell 107 not out on debut.
