French referee Tony Chapron has been suspended after kicking out Diego Carlos after sending him off by showing a red card in a French Ligue-1 match between FC Nantes and Paris-St Germain.

In the 87th minute, Nantes defender Diego Carlos unintentionally collided with the match referee Chapron.

The 45-year-old referee stumbled and fell to the ground and kicked Diego Carlos with his right boot.

Chapron then flourished a second yellow card at Carlos and sent him off for the remaining three minutes of the game.

Nantes president Waldemar Kita was captured laughing at the dismissal.

The French Football Federation announced on Monday that Chapron would face a disciplinary hearing - and suspended him until further notice.

He will be called to appear before the French league's disciplinary commission at a later date to explain himself.

The French Football Federation said, "Chapron has now accepted the contact with Carlos was accidental."
