Watch: Virat Kohli says, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya comments not supported by teammates

India skipper Virat Kohli has said that the sexist comments made by his teammates KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya are "inappropriate" from Indian cricket team's the point of view. 

He further added, "we definitely, as the Indian cricket team, do not support views like that and that has been communicated." 

Team India scripted history in the recently concluded Test series after clinching the series for the first time on Australian soil. 

But ahead of the one-day series, India have been hit by an unsavoury off-field controversy due to Pandya and KL Rahul's controversial comments on women on a TV show. The two are facing the prospect of being banned for a couple of matches. 

"The two concerned players felt what has gone wrong and they have understood the magnitude," Kohli told reporters.

Virat Kohli said he was not aware of any sanctions being handed down but as per the latest reports, Committee of Administrators member Diana Edulji Friday recommended "suspension till further action" against both the players. Edulji had initially suggested a two-match suspension for the duo but referred the matter to the legal cell after CoA chief Vinod Rai agreed with her and recommended the same.

"From the combination and team balance point of view, yes, you'll have to think about the combination you'll need now," Kohli said.

"We played in India against the West Indies with a finger spinner and a wrist spinner. So it's good that we have someone like Jadeja who can do the all-rounder's role if a scenario like that occurs," Kohli said on the eve of the first ODI against Australia. 

"So we are not too stressed as a team (about the Pandya situation) because you'll always have things that you can do in terms of creating that balance for the side. And hence, we keep players who can provide balance with bat and ball as a backup anyway," he added. 

"I don't think we will have too much of trouble if we have to change our combinations. We are pretty comfortable as a side and any combination that we go in with," he said.
