The stands were open for the fans who welcomed Chennai's players, especially captain MS Dhoni, with thunderous applause and loud cheers.

Meanwhile, the first game of the tournament will see Dhoni's men take on Virat Kohli-led Bangalore in Chennai.

Last year, the venue saw only one match as the side was forced to shift their home games to Pune following political protests.
Despite that, Chennai went on to win the tournament defeating Kane Williamson's Hyderabad in the final at Wankhede stadium.
