Bayern, who appeared to be without a serious rival as they clocked up six consecutive Bundesliga titles, are suddenly vulnerable in Niko Kovac's first season in charge.

Bayern Munich returns to the Champions League against Benfica on November 27 in crisis mode following their latest setback in the Bundesliga.

Talking about the last match of Bayern Munich, team coach Niko Kovac said that he was very disappointed and angry about giving away six points in the last minutes which they needed desperately.

"Of course I was very disappointed, also angry. That is understandable. If you lead all the time against Augsburg, Freiburg and Duesseldorf with all respect but give away everything in the last minutes and give away six points which we are missing desperately. The situation would be completely different now for us," he said.

Bayern, who appeared to be without a serious rival as they clocked up six consecutive Bundesliga titles, are suddenly vulnerable in Niko Kovac's first season in charge.

Kovac has a point to prove when his team hosts Benfica, though a draw will be enough to ensure progress to the next round.

Benfica need to beat Bayern to maintain any hopes of a top-two finish.
