Swiss tennis star Roger Federer will begin the quest for his 100th ATP singles title when he faces Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany in the first round of the Dubai Championships on Monday (February 25).

The 20-times Grand Slam champion, who has not played this year since his Australian Open round of 16 defeat by Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in January, said he would love to reach the milestone in Dubai.

Federer, the seven-time Dubai champion, last lifted the trophy in 2015 when he defeated Novak Djokovic.

The 37-year-old Federer, who will return to the European clay court season after two years away, said that he is excited about the prospect of playing on clay again.

Federer, whose sole French Open title came in 2009, announced on Wednesday (February 20) he will mark his return to clay at the Madrid Open which starts on May 3.
