The closing ceremony of the 2018 Winter Olympics Games got underway on Sunday. Officials from both North Korea and the United States attended both the closing and opening ceremonies. The daughter of US President Donald Trump and senior Whitehouse adviser, Ivanka Trump also attended the mega event besides South Korean President Moon Jae-in. The Games opened on February 9 and were the biggest Winter Olympics of all time, with 2,920 athletes competing for a record 102 gold medals.

The Peace Games ended with an unexpected diplomacy between host nation South Korea and its estranged neighbours in the North.

Both the Koreas made a history and entered the Games by forming a joint women ice hockey team - a diplomatic accomplishment that could signal an enduring thaw between the rivals.

When it comes to medal tally that Norway emerged as a champion and topped the final medal tally with 14 golds ahead of Germany, which also had 14 gold but fewer medals in all. Canada was third with 11 golds. Hosts South Korea was seventh.

Russian athletes were to march into the closing ceremony under a neutral flag after a ban on Russia's Olympic committee was upheld on Sunday following a mass doping scandal.

Thousands departed the Pyeongchang Olympic stadium on Sunday night after watching the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics.

One of the fans said, "I think the closing is different feeling and it's a celebration of the conclusion of this sport. So, it's time for athletes to come and be recognised. It's very nice and very appropriate."

Another fan shared his emotions and said, "Wonderful, just absolutely wonderful, everything. It's very organised. Just fabulous and fantastic."

"My feeling was really good. I think especially when South and North Korea, they came together (to participate winter Olympics), I think it's a good opportunity to be together and then to prepare the unification between South and North Korea and to protect the Asian security and the world peace," one fan praised the political and diplomatical advancement in both the rival nations.
