PV?Sindhu on friendship with Saina Nehwal: We are hi and bye types friends

The madness associated with viewers when ace shuttlers PV Sindhu and Saina Nehwal lock horns is nothing new. But little is known about their relationship off the court.

So when Sindhu was asked to throw some light on her relationship with Nehwal, she said they are friends but hi and bye types only. 

“We’re friends, like hi-bye… and that’s it,” Sindhu told a leading daily.

The Rio Olympics silver medallist also admitted that there was a rivalry between the two but clarified that it was not a big issue as people often mistook the aggression players showed during a match.  

“Rivalry is always there. When you play on court, everybody wants to win, both have the aggression to win. The rivalry is good in a way, everybody has that nowadays.”

Sindhu and Saina are being trained under the same roof ever since the former made a surprise return to Gopichand’s academy, but says that despite that they don't have time to talk. 

“We play together during practice but there’s not much time to get interactive and talk to each other because we have our training sessions,” said Sindhu.

Sindhu is currently involved in PBL with Chennai Smashers while Saina is part of Awadhe Warriors.
