Pakistan Hockey legend Mansoor Ahmed seeks India's help for heart transplant

Pakistan's Hockey legend Mansoor Ahmed needs a heart transplant after problems began to surface in the pacemaker and stents implanted in his heart.

According to media reports, the World Cup-winning hockey goalkeeper has appealed to the Indian government and Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj to grant him a medical visa.

Ahmed helped Pakistan win the 1994 World Cup in Sydney with his penalty stroke push against the Netherlands in the final.

In a career spanning from 1986 to 2000, Ahmed 338 international matches. He was adjudged the best goalkeeper by International Hockey Federation (FIH) in 1994.

India has severed all sporting ties with Pakistan after the 26/11 terror attacks on Mumbai. 

However, Pakistanis are eligible to apply for medical visas to India.
