Pakistan announce World Cup squad, pacer Mohammad Amir left out

Amid all the controversies surrounding the appointment of PCB MD Wasim Khan, the board Thursday announced the team for the upcoming ICC World Cup, starting May 30. 

Wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed will lead the squad, who will open their campaign against West Indies on May 31.

However, left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir has been left out, while teenager Mohammad Hasnain has been included in the 15-man squad.

Amir will, however, travel to England for the preceding ODI series against England.  The team will continue to get the services of Fakhar Zaman, Imam-Ul-Haq, Babar Azam.

Veteran Shoaib Malik is also a part of the squad considering the experience he will bring in to the squad.  

Left-arm pacer Usman Shinwari also missed out. Another significant name missing from the announced squad was power-hitter Asif Ali.

For the uninitiated, the deadline to announce squads is April 23, but teams can make changes till May 23 without seeking permission from the ICC's event technical committee.
