Brazil's Paris St Germain forward Neymar has had a successful operation on his injured foot and ankle confirmed the Brazilian Football Confederation. He was operated on Saturday at the Mater Dei Hospital in Belo Horizonte. On Friday, he flew to Belo Horizonte in Brazil and went straight to the Hospital MaterDei in the city for treatment to his injured foot.

"The post-op rehabilitation will begin immediately with the presence of a PSG physiotherapist," the CBF added.

"He will be re-evaluated in around six weeks in order to specify a possible date when he can return to training."

Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar suffered a sprained ankle and a fractured metatarsal when he was stretchered off during a match against Marseille.

Recently in an interview to ESPN Brazil, his father, Neymar Sr said, "PSG know that they won't have Neymar in the next few games and that they won't have Neymar for the next six weeks at least."

"Because this treatment is going to take six to eight weeks, we know that, whether it is surgery or conventional, it will be six or eight weeks," he further said.

Neymar Sr also mentioned that the damage was such that Neymar would definitely miss next week's Champions League encounter against Real Madrid.
