The World Cup trophy was decided by the number of boundaries scored as both England and New Zealand ended tied in the Super Over as well.

New Zealand’s all-rounder James Neesham on Monday advised kids that 'don't take up sports' after Kiwis loss to England in the Cricket World Cup final.

“Kids, don’t take up sport. Take up baking or something. Die at 60 really fat and happy,” a disappointed Neesham tweeted.

“That hurts. Hopefully, there’s a day or two over the next decade where I don’t think about that last half hour. Congratulations @ECB_cricket, well deserved,” he added.

“Thank you to all the supporters that came out today. We could hear you the whole way. Sorry, we couldn’t deliver what you so badly wanted,” he said.

But social media users and cricket fans around the world could not help reminding Neesham that his team New Zealand “played like champions”.

On July 14 at Lord’s, England were crowned World Cup 2019 champions after the final ended in a tie and the Super Over that followed, too ended in a tie. The hosts were then declared winners on a superior boundary count.

Neesham was in the middle when his batting partner Martin Guptill was run out by Jos Buttler, resulting in the Super Over ending in a tie. The Kiwis needed 16 to win off the Super Over bowled by Jofra Archer.
