Story highlights

David Miller and Faf du Plessis came together at 55-3 in the 16th over and went on to slam a century each.

The 252-run stand for the fourth wicket helped South Africa recover from the early losses and set a mammoth target of 321 runs for Australia in the third and final ODI on Sunday.

David Miller and Faf du Plessis came together at 55-3 in the 16th over and went on to slam a century each to save their team from drowning.

While Miller made 139 for his fifth limited-overs century, Du Plessis smashed125 - his 10th one-day ton. Du Plessis was dropped on 29 and Miller escaped an lbw dismissal on 41 that was overturned on review.

Mitchell Starc, with 2-57, had the best figures in bowling after Australian bowlers were ruthlessly taken apart in the later overs.

The series is all square with the Proteas winning the opening game by six wickets and Australia snapping their seven-game losing streak to clinch the second by seven runs.
