India's Mary Kom beat Columbian Olympic bronze medalist Ingrit Valencia to storm into the semi-finals of the Women's World Boxing Championship in Ulan Ude in Russia on Thursday.

Mary Kom thrashed her Columbian opponent 5-0 in the quarter-finals in the 51 kg category ensuring herself of an eight world championship medal.

The Indian boxer who had beaten Thailand's Jitpang Jutamas in the pre-quarterfinals, will take on either China's Cai Zongju, or Turkey's Cakiroglu Busenaz in the semi-final on Saturday.

Earlier on Wednesday, India's Lovlina Borgohain beat Morocco's Oumayma Bel Ahbib to enter the quarter-finals in the 69-kg category at the boxing event. Borgohain outclassed her Moroccon rival 5-0 to win the match.

Another Indian boxer, Jamuna Bora also entered the quarter-finals in the 54-kg category after defeating Algerian Ouidad Sfouh 5-0.
