'I've really enjoyed the contest between myself and Virat Kohli', says James Anderson

England's fast bowler James Anderson destroyed India's top batting order with his pace and swing and helped England to restrict the visitors to 107 runs in first inning of second Test at Lord's cricket stadium.

Much of the second day was washed away due to rain but Anderson managed to take five wickets and now he is just one wicket shy of becoming the first bowler to take 100 Test wickets at Lord's.

Despite his 5-wicket haul, Virat Kohli again escaped him and lost his wicket to Chris Woakes after scoring a 57-ball 23.

Much like in Edgbaston when he scored 149 and 51 and evaded Anderson in both the innings.

James Anderson reacted to it and said, "I was thinking, 'why can't he edge them like everyone else?’" 

"I've really enjoyed the contest between myself and him. He's number one in the world for a reason."

"For me, I love playing against the best players in the world, testing yourself and seeing whether you can get the better of them. It's a really thrilling thing to be a part of, and unfortunately, I've not got the better of him yet. But I'll continue to try my hardest throughout the rest of the series."

"Kohli's important because he's captain, a leader and he's their best player – No.1 in the world," said Anderson.

The 34-year-old also said that every wicket is important for us, he said: "90% of their top seven have scored runs against us in the past, so we can't look just at Kohli as a big wicket."

The Virat-Anderson contest was expected in the Test series but Anderson said that they cannot to bully a much-improved Virat Kohli.

In 2014, India's struggled with the bat and it was visible by Kohli's patchy form in their 3-1 series defeat. The batsman was dismissed four times by Anderson in that series.
