Former Kolkata Knightriders skipper Gautam Gambhir, 36, was today appointed as the captain of rival Delhi Daredevils team in the Indian Premier League(IPL) due to begin next month.

Gambhir who led Kolkata Knight&nbsp;Riders(KKR) to two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014 was brought over by his former team Delhi Daredevils for 2.8 crore during the latest auction.

A Delhi player, Gambhir played for his home state in the first few IPL season before being brought over an appointed captain of Shah Rukh Khan-led Kolkata Knightriders.

However, KKR did not bid for Gambhir in the latest auction allowing Delhi to lap him up even though he was KKR&#39;s leading run-getter in the IPL.
