Rajasthan skipper Ajinkya Rahane was fined Rs 12 lakh for slow-over rate during their match against Mumbai in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday.

“Rajasthan Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their IPL match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on May 13,” an IPL release said today.

“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Rahane was fined Rs 12 lakh,” the release added.

Rajasthan, yesterday, outclassed the defending champions Mumbai by seven wickets.

Opener Jos Buttler slammed an unbeaten 94 to take his team to the victory side.

It was Buttler's fifth half-century in this year's cash-rich tournament.

Skipper Ajinkya Rahane too contributed 37 runs before giving away his wicket to Hardik Pandya.

The IPL franchise will play their next match against Kolkata on Tuesday.
