INDvsAUS, 1st Test, Day 1: India 92-5 after 40 overs

The Australian bowling department, especially the pacers, have dominated the opening day of first Test so far as India were 92 for the loss of five in Adelaide after 40 overs.

Australia grabbed early wickets, including the prized scalp of star batsman Virat Kohli, to have India on the ropes.

Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara resumed the game after lunch but tried to salvage the innings but fell cheaply to spinner Nathon Lyon.

After drinks break, spinner Nathon Lyon came into the attack in the 13th over.

Rohit playing at number six spot vacated by the injured fast-bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya, with spin bowling all-rounder Hanuma Vihari missing out.

Rohit Sharma scored 37 from 61 balls.

Rishabh Pant and Pujara were playing.

Earlier, after winning the toss on a day when temperatures are forecast to hit 39 Celsius (102 Fahrenheit), the visitors crumbled under an opening barrage from quicks Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins.

KL Rahul, who has been struggling for runs, flopped again, caught by Aaron Finch at third slip off Hazlewood for two.

Veteran Murali Vijay, in the side after young gun Prithvi Shaw suffered ankle ligament damage in a warm-up game, didn't last much longer, caught behind by skipper Tim Paine of Starc for 11.

After that, pacer Hazlewood has added more misery to visitors as he sent back India's vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane at a score of 13 runs.
