The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended India's Ambati Rayudu from bowling in international cricket on Monday as he failed to submit a test of his bowling action within the stipulated period of 14 days.

Rayudu was reported for a suspect bowling action during the first One-Day International (ODI) against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The match officials' report, which was handed over to the Indian team management, cited concerns about the legality of Rayadu's action.

"The player elected not to submit to a test of his bowling action within the stipulated period of 14 days of being reported for a suspect action, and therefore he has been suspended with immediate effect...," the ICC said in a statement.

His suspension is in accordance with clause 4.2 of the ICC regulations, which deals with the legality of bowling actions.

As per the official statement of ICC, "The suspension will remain in place until he is tested, and can demonstrate he is able to bowl with a legal action."
