Indian former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has become the fifth Indian batsman to score 10,000 runs in one-day cricket. 

Dhoni achieved this feat while playing at Sydney Cricket Ground against Australian on Saturday in the first ODI of a three-match series. 

The wicket-keeper batsman becomes the fifth to reach the milestone for his country.

the wicket-keeper batsman had earlier accumulated a total of 10,173 runs in the 50-over format during a home series against West Indies in October 2018 however, the record also contained the 174 runs, which he smashed against the Africa XI, while representing the Asia XI in a three-match rubber in 2007.

Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli had scored 10,000 ODI runs for India. 

Overall, Dhoni is the 12th player in the history of ODI cricket to reach the 10,000-run club.
