IND vs ENG, 4th Test, Day 3: Jos Buttler shines as England were 260-8, lead by 233 at stumps
England were 260-8 in their second innings, a lead of 233 runs, at stumps on the third day of the fourth Test against India at Southampton on Saturday.
Jos Buttler, who lost his wicket to Ishant Sharma after scoring 69 runs, salvaged England's second innings as his team was slumped to 92 for four.
India will face a record run-chase if they were to win this match to level the series.
The most India have made to win in the fourth innings of a Test in England is 174 at The Oval in 1971. That match also marked their first Test-match win on English soil.
Earlier, England started Saturday's play on six without loss Alastair Cook (12) and Keaton Jennings (36) but lost their wickets to Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami respectively.
Pacer Shami proved economical for India as he struck thrice for 53 runs from 13.5 overs. He also dismissed Joe Root with a splendid direct hit from mid-on.

Moeen Ali was surprisingly promoted to number three instead of Root, lost his wicket to Ishant Sharma.
England's skipper Joe Root was looking good on the wickets when he was called for an unnecessary single by Ben Stokes and failed to beat Shami's direct hit.
Stokes displayed a good defense as he faced 110 balls but managed to score just 30 runs before losing his wicket to Ashwin.
Sam Curran was 37 not out after Adil Rashid (11) was caught behind off Mohammed Shami in the last ball of the day's play.
On the second day, Moeen Ali took five for 63 as India were dismissed for 273 in reply to England's first-innings 246, a lead of 27 runs.
So far, England lead this five-match series 2-1.
