IND vs ENG, 2nd Test 3rd day: Mohammed Shami strikes twice, England 89-4 at lunch

Mohammed Shami struck twice as England were 89 for four at lunch in the first inning of second Test at Lord's cricket stadium.

Earlier, after an outstanding display of pace with swing as England restrict India to 107 runs in the first inning.

Pacer James Anderson's five-wicket haul destroyed India's batting line-up and also he is just one wicket shy of becoming the first bowler to take 100 Test wickets at Lord's.

For England, openers Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings started England's inning but Jennings lost his wicket on the ball of Shami after scoring 11 runs.

Soon after that, Cook walked back to the pavilion after losing the wicket to Ishant Sharma's swinging delivery after scoring 21 runs.

Debutant Ollie Pope played some positive strokes at number four but as lunch approached he was trapped lbw by Hardik Pandya.

Shami struck again to take the prized wicket of skipper Joe Root at the score of 19. 

The right-hander played some positive strokes and scored freely as he looked to rebuild alongside captain Joe Root, but as lunch approached he was trapped lbw by Hardik Pandya. 

Root was watchful for much of his innings but his wicket brought some relief in the Indian camp.

Jonny Bairstow was unbeaten on four at the interval in bright sunshine at the home of cricket after much of the first two days of the match were washed out by rain.

England lead the five-match series 1-0.
