IND vs AUS, Day 5: Australia 186/6 at lunch

With four players in hand, Australia need 137 more runs to win the first Test match against India, as the hosts managed to score 186 for six at lunch on the fifth and final day of the game at Adelaide Oval

Resuming the game at 104 for four, Australia lost two wickets - one of settled Shaun Marsh for 60 and other of Travis Head for just 14 runs.

After pacer Ishant Sharma departed Travis, Marsh along with skipper Tim Paine battled hard before Marash lost his wicket to Jasprit Bumrah.

However, Paine is playing at 40 and has Pat Cummins at the other end.

On day 4, Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and paceman Mohammed Shami combined to tear through Australia's top order and bring India in a commanding position. 

Shaun Marsh was 31 not out and Travis Head on 11, the pair fighting a desperate rearguard action to nudge Australia to 104 for four at stumps on day four, still 219 runs short of their victory target of 323.

Australia will need to defy history to chase down the total and survive the wiles of Ashwin on a fifth-day pitch.

The highest successful run chase was in 1902, when the hosts scored 315 for six to beat England.
