Indian cricket team registered a historic 137-run victory at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday as they won the Boxing Day Test against Australia for the very first time.

Both the teams have played eight Boxing Tests in Melbourne since 1985, and India lost five and two ended in a draw but this is the first time when the 'Men in Blue' walked out as winners.

Earlier, India had won the first Test at the Adelaide Oval before going down in Perth.

Congratulating the Virat Kohli-led side, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar termed the team's effort as "incredible".

"Incredible effort by #TeamIndia to take a 2-1 lead, especially @Jaspritbumrah93 who has played an instrumental role in this win. He has gone from strength to strength in all formats of the game. Definitely one of the best in the world today. #INDvAUS," Sachin tweeted.

The win gave India a 2-1 lead and leaves them on the verge of claiming a historic first series victory on Australian soil.

Chasing a huge 399 to win, Australia were all out for 261 in the post-lunch session after the first session was washed out due to intermittent showers.

Bumrah was awarded player of the match for his brilliant bowling. He took a total of nine wickets in the third match and so far in the series, he has taken 20 wickets.
