'If I have to give my life to someone, it would be Anil Kumble': Gautam Gambhir

Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir is known for being straightforward and this time he has hailed his former captain Anil Kumble and his short yet prolific captaincy. 

Gambhir said in an interview: "Sehwag and I were having dinner when Kumble walked in and said that you guys will open throughout the series no matter what. Even if you get 8 ducks it doesn't matter. I have never heard such words from anyone in my career. So, if I have to give my life to someone, it would be Anil Kumble. Those words are still in my heart." 

Kumble has been the captain for the Indian cricket team in Tests, he won three and lost five tests. He is also the highest wicket-taker for the Indian team by scalping 619 wickets. 

Gambhir was in the best of his performance in Test cricket under Kumble, he scored his career-best 206 versus Australia. 

He also added that Kumble could have earned many records to his name is he had captained the team for a longer duration. He said: "Had he captained India for a longer duration like Sourav Ganguly, MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli, he would have made many records."
