'I shouldn't be sad for not winning the gold,' says Sindhu after losing badminton final to Taiwan's Ying
Follow UsIndia's star shuttler PV Sindhu settled for a silver medal in the Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta after losing the badminton final to Taiwan's Tai Tzu Ying.
Even as Sindhu could not win the gold, she became the first Indian to win a silver at the Games.
The World no 3 was outplayed for the six straight time by Tai Tzu as the Taiwanese toyed with the Indian star with absolute ease and raced to the title in just 34 minutes.
In a matter of a little over half an hour, Tzi Tzu had defeated Sindhu 21-13, 21-16.
When asked if she has any regrets over not winning the gold, Sindhu said,"there were matches where I was about to lose but I fought back and won. I shouldn't be sad for not winning the gold as the overall competition was fantastic."
"It was a proud moment for the country having two Indians on the podium," she added.

Tai Tzu outclassed both Sindhu and Saina Nehwal to clinch the title. Nehwal settled for bronze after losing to the World no1 in the in the semifinals.
It was Sindhu’s third defeat in a big final this year, having lost the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games title clash to Saina Nehwal and the World Championship summit clash to Spain’s Carolina Marin.
