Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has requested Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enable every cricketer playing in the Indian Premier League to be allowed to cast their votes from whichever place they find themselves at.

Ashwin took to Twitter to appeal on his official account, saying, "I would also like to request you @narendramodi sir to enable every cricketer playing in the IPL to be allowed to cast their votes from which ever place they find themselves at."

The 2019 Indian general election is scheduled to be held this year in seven phases from April 11 to May 19 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha.

While making the schedule, the IPL operations team has ensured that no team plays their home matches at the alternate venues as the general elections will be held in seven phases from April 12 to May 19.

Two-time champions Kolkata will play all their IPL home matches at the Eden Gardens despite West Bengal going into polls during the elections.

Even Ashwin-led Punjab, who had played a few of their home matches in Indore during earlier editions, will play all their matches in Mohali.

In the tournament, Ashwin would be desperate to prove that he can still make a difference in this format.
