The reports of the Grand Slam being postponed by a week were reported by French newspaper Le Parisien and tennis website tennis.com.

French Open organisers are in talks with tennis' governing bodies to adjust the season calendar. These talks are being held amid reports that the French Grand Slam could be postponed by at least a week due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"We took the decision in mid-March to postpone Roland Garros from September 20 to October 4. Since then, we have been discussing with the international bodies of the various circuits (International Tennis Federation, WTA, ATP) the optimum calendar for the second part of the season, which will be finalised with the various stakeholders very soon," a French tennis federation (FFT) spokesman told Reuters on Tuesday.

The reports of the Grand Slam being postponed by a week were reported by French newspaper Le Parisien and tennis website tennis.com. They suggested that the play could begin a week later that is September 27.

This decision might come as the organizers were criticised for postponing the French Open without any suggestions which led to a cramped up schedule as the dates neared US Open. But if French Open is postponed by a week, it could give players a two-week rest between the tournaments.
