However, it is still unclear if his omission is related to the rape allegations against him.

Cristiano Ronaldo on Thursday was left out of the Portugal squad for upcoming fixtures against Poland and Scotland.

However, it is still unclear if his omission is related to the rape allegations against him.

The Juventus forward has been making headlines from past many days over an investigation into an alleged rape case from 2009 - which Ronaldo denies.

The Portugal star was rested for the previous international fixtures against Croatia and Italy, and has not featured for his country since the last-16 World Cup defeat to Uruguay.

The 33-year-old will sit out the Nations League match against Poland on October 11 and the friendly against Scotland on October 14.

He also missed Juventus' Champions League win against Young Boys on Tuesday after serving a one-match ban.

Ronaldo won the 2016 European Championships with his country and is both Portugal's most capped player ever and the nation's all-time top goalscorer.
