Asian Games 2018: India wins first equestrian silvers after 36 years

India's Fouaad Mirza became the first Indian to win an individual medal in the equestrian event since the 1982 Asian Games.

Mirza scripted history (again) on Sunday by securing the silver in the individual jumping event. He also guided the country to a second-place finish in the team event.

The team comprised Fouaad, Jitender Singh, Akash Malik and Rakesh Kumar.

In the individual jumping event, Mirza won the silver medal with a score of 26.40.

India's Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore took to Twitter to congratulate Fouaad for his performance:

Japan's Oiwa Yoshiaki clinched the gold with a score of 22.70 and China's Hua Tian Alex scored 27.10 to finish at the third position.

On the other hand, in the team event, India secured silver with a score of 121.30.

While, Japan finished on top with a score of 82.40, and Thailand bagged the bronze with a score of 126.70.
