Sri Lanka's pace legend Lasith Malinga has been included in the 16-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup tournament.

The 35-year-old has been sidelined due to regular injuries.

His last ODI appearance was in a match against India in September 2017 that Sri Lanka lost by six wickets, where Malinga took just one wicket for 35 runs.

Malinga's performance in the ongoing domestic T20 series is very impressive and that is the only reason for his selection in the one-day squad for the Asia Cup tournament.

In his ODI career, Malinga has taken 301 ODI wickets giving away 8,705 runs.

The selectors have also recalled Dinesh Chandimal, who was ignored for the South Africa series following his six-match ban.

There is another important addition in the form of Danushka Gunathilaka, who served a six-match suspension for breaching the 'Player Code of Conduct and Contractual Obligation'.

Here is the full squad:

Angelo Mathews (Captain), Kusal Perera, Kusal Mendis, Upul Tharanga, Dinesh Chandimal, Danushka Gunathilaka, Thisara Perera, Dasun Shanaka, Dhanajaya de Silva, Akila Dananjaya, Dilruwan Perera, Amila Aponso, Kasun Rajitha, Suranga Lakmal, Dushmantha Chameera and Lasith Malinga.
