UP: Gang rape and acid attack victim attacked with acid for fifth time, critical

A 2008 gang rape and acid attack victim was again attacked with acid in her home in Lucknow on Saturday. 

The 35-year-old was at home in Aligangj when some unidentified men attacked her with acid. 

She is reported to be in critical condition. 

In March this year, she had been forced to drink acid. 

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath had visited her in Lucknow's King George Medical College at the time.  

Yogi had ordered the police to nab the attackers, assured the victim they would be punished, and announced compensation of Rs 1 lakh for her. 

The victim, who is Dalit, was allegedly raped in December 2008. 

After learning that she had reported the attack to police, news reports said, her alleged attacker and his brother stabbed her in the stomach. 

In 2011, acid was thrown on her three times. 

In 2012, she was again gang raped.

In March 2017, she was attacked with acid for a fourth time. 

On Saturday, she was attacked with acid for a fifth time.
