J&K: Two armymen including Major killed in Shopian encounter

Two Indian Army personnel, Major Kamlesh Pandey and Sepoy Tanzin Chhultim were killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in South Kashmir's Shopian district today morning.
Their last rites took place this afternoon. Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, deputy chief minister NK Singh was also present.

The Army patrol party was attacked by terrorists when they were conducting a cordon and search operation in Shopian's Zaipora area.
Three Army personnel were injured in the attack. They were rushed to the Army's 92 base hospital where Major Kamlesh Pandey and Sepoy Tanzin Chhultim lost their lives, PTI reported.
Earlier, in another encounter in Kulgam, two terrorists were killed by the security forces.
The encounter in Shopian comes days after the security forces eliminated Lashkar's top commander in Kashmir Abu Dujana.
The Himachal Pradesh government has announced Rs 20 lakh as compensation for Tanzin Chhultim's family.
