Sri Lankan PM calls up for filling vacancies in both public and private sector to solve the problem of unemployment in the country.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said more jobs must be provided to the applicants which include the provision of provident funds for the employees, as reported by the Colombo Page.

He said this during a ceremony on Monday to present appointment letters to 4,511 management assistants who are newly recruited to Public Management Assistants Service.

He further noted that the government should provide assistance to self-employment, agriculture and fishing industries.

"If these tasks are done successfully, we will be able to develop the economy by creating jobs. For the first time after the war ended in 2009 we will create an era providing employment," the Prime Minister said.

He informed about new jobs to be created in the industrial and tourism fields.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe highlighted the good governance practices followed by the government that has helped to create stability in the job sector enabling the recruitment of youth to the public sector.
