Seven Bangladeshi nationals arrested for illegally trespassing into India

Follow UsAs many as seven Bangladeshi nationals were arrested by police in Indian state of West Bengal for trespassing into the Indian territory on Thursday.
The seven persons were arrested from the Indo-Bangla international border in Bongaon’s RS Math area of West Bengal after they failed to produce valid documents.
Officials said three persons, among the seven trespassers, were carrying Indian voter identity card with the same picture but different names and particulars
“We have arrested seven Bangladeshi nationals for illegally trespassing into India. The arrested have been identified as Kamal Sheikh, Rubia Begum, Iqbal Mollah, Md Nasir, Jahidul Sarif, Md Mir Amir, Pannu Sikder. The seven arrested comprise six men and one woman with an infant. All are residents of Faridpur in Bangladesh and their ages range between 19 and 35. We have lodged a case against them,” said a senior police of the Bongaon Police Station.
“We had intelligence inputs about some people who had come to India from Bangladesh in the last couple days. We have tightened vigil along the border and police stations across the border area have been kept on high alert," he added.

Besides West Bengal, four more states -- Assam, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya --- that share border with the neighbouring country have been kept on high alert following the Dhaka attack last month.
The Indo-Bangla border is 4,096 Kilometre with West Bengal having the highest length with 2,217 Kilometre.
