Sacked Delhi minister on hunger strike attacked outside his home

Sacked Delhi water minister Kapil Mishra was attacked outside his house today where he is sitting on a hunger strike. 

News agency ANI reported that the assailant has been identified as Ankit Bhardwaj. There is some confusion over Bhardwaj's motivation to attack Mishra and his political credentials. Even as Mishra's supporters claimed he identified himself as an Aam Aadmi Party supporter, Mishra's former political party, AAP claimed that Bhardwaj was a Bharatiya Janata Party youth wing member, and said his Facebook posts revealed him to be so. 
 

Kapil Mishra today began his hunger strike, demanding that AAP politicians, who swept into power in the city government with a landmark 67 seats out of the total 70 in the Delhi assembly, disclose the details of funding for their foreign tours.  

"I'm sitting on a satyagraha till I get clarification on details of international travel expenses of some senior AAP leaders. 

"It is not a dharna, but a satyagraha. I would like to send a message to chief minister (Delhi) Arvind Kejriwal to put out the details of the foreign tours of his five politicians -- Satyendra Jain, Ashish Khetan, Raghav Chaddha, Sanjay Singh and Durgesh Pathak -- in the public domain," Mishra told reporters. 

Mishra was suspended from the AAP after his startling allegation that he witnessed Kejriwal accepting Rs 2 crore from fellow minister Satyendra Jain. 

Today, he further alleged that details of the foreign trips by AAP leaders will reveal a lot about the corruption they are accused of. Yesterday, in another letter, Mishra challenged the AAP chief to contest elections against him. 

"You are trying to remove me from the assembly, I challenge you to contest elections against me from any seat. Let's fight the election from my Karawal Nagar seat or even your New Delhi seat. If you believe that people are with you, then I'm ready to resign," Mishra said in the letter.
