Resident doctors at Delhi's Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital have gone on indefinite strike, a senior doctor who works at the hospital told WION.

According to hospital sources, some drunk men assaulted the doctors and guards late Sunday night.

The chief medical officer's (casualties) office was vandalised, and the aluminium door to his office broken.

This incident comes close on the heels of the assault on resident doctors in Maharashtra, after which they went on indefinite strike.

The strike was called off only after the Bombay High Court ordered that the doctors be provided security.
