Pigeon with 'message' for Indian PM Narendra Modi taken into custody

Border Security Force (BSF) personnel today took a pigeon into custody after a note written in Urdu and addressed d to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was recovered with it, Indian news agency PTI reported today.

The pigeon was taken into custody from the Simbal post of Bamial sector in northern Punjab said, the news agency said. 

Pertinently, the BSF is the primary border guarding force in India. 

In a similar incident, balloons carrying such messages were recovered from outposts along Punjab border on Saturday. 

Meanwhile, according to officials, the message written on a piece of paper read: "Modi Ji, do not consider us same people as we were during 1971 (Indo-Pak war). Now each and every child is ready to fight against India."

The grey-coloured pigeon was found by BSF near their post, inspector of Narot Jaimal Singh Police Station (Pathankot), Ramesh Kumar was quoted as saying by PTI. 

"The pigeon was carrying the letter when it was found," he said, adding the bird has been taken into "custody".

"We are investigating the matter," Kumar said.

A white pigeon, apparently from across the border, with "some words written in Urdu" was found in Punjab's Hoshiarpur district on September 23, PTI reported. 

India and Pakistan, the two South Asian neighbouring countries, are at loggerheads with each-other ever since millitants stormed an Indian Army base in Uri sector of Kashmir on September 18 triggering a war of words between two countries. 

Recent surgical strikes by India in Punjab-administered Kashmir have further escalated the tensions.
