Patna's Indira Gandhi's Institute of Medical Sciences has finally removed the word virgin from their "declaration of marital status" form, but have let the rest of their questions remain.

The form is to be filled out by employees.

The form now no longer asks a prospective employee to declare if he or she is a "bacherlor, widower, virgin".

The new form instead asks them to declare if they are "married, a widow, unmarried."

News of the form had created a furore on Wednesday.

But the other declarations -- respondents are expected to tick one -- on the form remain.

They include, among others, "That I am married and have only one wife living".

And "That I am married and have more one wife living".
