Pakistani Rangers open fire on BSF post in Indian Punjab: Report

The Indian news channel Times Now reported a "possible ceasefire violation by Pakistani Rangers" in Gurdaspur, Punjab near the Indo-Pak border. It said the Pakistani paramilitary force had opened fire on a Border Security Force (BSF) post on the Indian side of the border.

The channel said the firing had taken place early in the morning.

ANI however quoted BSF inspector general Anil Paliwal as saying, "BSF opened fire after suspected infiltration at Chakri post of Gurdaspur sector."

ANI added that combing operations are currently underwary.

This ceasefire violation comes hours after the terror attack in Baramulla, Kashmir in which six militants attacked an Indian army camp and a BSF camp.

One Indian paramilitary personnel was killed in that attack, while another was wounded. As were two terrorists, reported Reuters.
