Pakistan special court to hear treason case against Musharraf

A special court in Pakistan is all set to hear a high treason case against former army chief and President General Pervez Mushraff on August 20.

The case against Mushraff was filed by the government under the Pakistan Muslim League -Nawaz (PML-N) party.

The case pertains to the president's imposition of extra-constitutional emergency in November 2007.

He was charged in the case in March 2014 after he appeared before the court and rejected all charges.

Musharraf who has been declared as a proclaimed offender by the special court is currently residing in Dubai.

He left Pakistan for a medical treatment on March 18, 2016, after he was removed from the Exit Control List on the orders of the Supreme Court.

Following the direction of the Supreme Court, Musharraf's passport and identity card were cancelled. 

The court had also ordered the confiscation of his party after he failed to appear before it.
