Pak civilian govt has little info on Kulbhushan Jadhav & Army is not sharing

The Pakistani civilian government seems to have little information on Kulbhushan Jadhav -- it is the Pakistani military which is in the know -- because of which its legal team at the International Court of Justice was ill-prepared, sources have told WION. 

Sources in the Pakistani administration told WION that a number of Pakistani MPs were left unsatisfied after a meeting of the parliamentary committee on national security on Tuesday, and that they left the meeting with a number of unanswered questions. 

The gist of what the sources said was -- the Pakistani civilian government has little information on Jadhav. 

That its legal team at the ICJ was therefore ill-prepared, leading to the court ordering Pakistan to not execute Jadhav until it has decided whether it will hear the case. 

The sources told WION that the MPs feel the civilian government needs to push the military to share more information on Jadhav. 

And that they feel Pakistan needs to expand its legal team -- while retaining Khawar Qureshi, who has so far led the team -- fighting the case at the ICJ. 

The sources said the names of potential new lawyers were discussed at the meeting. 

The sources also said the committee will meet again on May 30. 

And that it is meeting so soon again because of the unanswered questions left over from Tuesday's meeting. 

Pakistan accuses Jadhav, a former Indian Navy officer, of spying in Balochistan. A Pakistani military court sentenced him to death in April. 

India has taken Pakistan to the ICJ, accusing Pakistan of not allowing India consular access to Jadhav. That, India says, violates a treaty guaranteeing diplomatic assistance to foreigners accused of crimes.
