Nepal: President Bidya Devi Bhandari to take oath today at 4pm

Nepal's re-elected President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will take an oath today at 4 pm. Bidhya, the first woman president of Nepal, was re-elected for the second term yesterday. 

President Bhandari defeated Nepali Congress leader Kumari Laxmi Rai with an overwhelming majority of 27,545 votes.

She received 39,275 votes over 11,730 votes received by Nepali Congress' Rai. 

Each voter from the House of Representatives and National Assembly holds the power equivalent to 79 votes; the same for each Provincial Assembly member is equivalent to 48 votes.

As many as 862 votes were cast in the presidential election at the Federal Parliament Building IN New Baneshwor, Kathmandu.
